What good is frosting if the cake is bad?

What good is frosting if the cake is bad?

Today I was confronted with this question. It also prompted me to reconsider certain long-held beliefs.

My father and I went out to eat at a nearby Chinese restaurant. We had received four fortune cookies, each of which I wanted to open. But after sweet and sour chicken and sticky rice, I only had room for two.

The first one I may discuss later, but my primary attention is on the second fate.

“ What good is frosting if the cake is bad?”

I was perplexed at first—after all, I adore cake. So, I got sidetracked.

But when I peered deeply into it, with all of my heart and soul, I saw a message that altered my life.

I believe the cake represents you as a human being, without all of the money and flashy belongings. The icing is just how you behave and how much you care—the polish on your Firebolt. (Harry Potter reference, but for all you muggles, consider a polished broomstick [sorry, I had to make a Harry Potter joke]).

So, if you aren't a good person on the inside (maybe you lie a lot, or I'm not sure—help me out here, peeps), you may be in a relationship but don't love them. Then all the grins and acting are extremely bad. Because the cake is what truly matters. It's like being at a bakery. You bite into the slice of double chocolate cake (your mouth waters), only to discover that the chocolate cake has been scorched after the luscious chocolate frosting is applied. Then you never return to that bakery again.

Moral-ish thing-

If your cake isn't nice or has been burned, don't frost it; instead, decorate it with those rainbow sprinkles that I enjoy taking off separately. Adjust your recipe and try again. Simply because you burned your cake does not mean you will never bake again.

The human version of the moral-ish thing

If you aren't the best person or are in a position with no positive results, you don't have to stop life. You begin anew. Maybe you relocate to a new place and reinvent yourself as the person you want to be. Yes, you will make mistakes, but they are proof that you are trying. You don't start from the top. If you be who you want to be, you don't mind what others think. Any type of "frosting" is acceptable. I'd have a rainbow cake with chocolate icing and small rainbow sprinkles! When you become who you want to be, your life improves and brightens.

Sorry if this made no sense; I had just started writing.

This is my cake.
